The Vice President Osibanjo attends the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in Lagos

The Presbyterian Church of Nigeria gathered from the east, south and north all in the west and had the time of its life as a church. The General Assembly Meeting was held in Lagos. The last time this happened was over twenty years ago. This time it happened with a big bang. If not the biggest bang which the church has had in a while. I stand to be corrected. I write from my observations anyways.

The  Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Prof Yemi Osibanjo was in attendance and he handled the keynote address. Also in attendance was the Governor of Abia Sate Dr Okezie Ikpeazu.

The Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, has accepted the first award, among many offered to him since he assumed office as Governor in May 29, 2015.
Ikpeazu was conferred with the honour of “Presbyterian Ambassador Award” by the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria.
The Governor was conferred with this award during the 22nd General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria that held at Yaba, Lagos on Saturday, with the Vice President of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osibanjo, in attendance.
The Prelate of the Church, Prof. Mba Uka, in his award citation, said the Church chose the Governor for the award based on his outstanding performance in the area of road construction and Aba/Abia State infrastructure renewal and development efforts.

According to Prof. Uka, of particular interest to the church is the reconstruction of Ehere Road at Ogbor-Hill area of Aba, where the General Assembly Office (Administrative Headquarters) of the Church is situated.
He said: “We’ve never had a Governor like Governor Ikpeazu in Abia.
“He is dedicated to his work and everybody can attest to his good works in Abia.
“The Presbyterian Church of Nigeria has benefited from Governor Ikpeazu’s good works in Abia.
“Today, the road leading to our General Assembly office in Aba, which was so bad, has been reconstructed by the Governor.
“I am talking about Ehere Road in Aba.”
In his response, Ikpeazu said: “When we agreed to fix Ehere Road and the two other link roads, Umuola and Ukaegbu, we didn’t think of a day like this.
“But this award, which is the first award I have accepted since I became Governor over a year ago, means so much to me.
“You have encouraged me and I promise to do more roads for our people.”

So i am so engrossed in the Governor that i almost forgot this super important part too. The church elected a new Prelate and Moderator of the General Assembly in the person of Rev Nzie Nsi Eke. He accepted to take up the office and he has already started work by moderating the remaining part of the meeting.

We pray more amazing success to the church.
